Daily good oral hygiene can help reduce your risk of developing periodontal disease.

Brush your teeth twice a day. With proper brushing, you can remove plaque from the inner, outer and chewing surfaces of each tooth.

Carefully clean between your teeth once a day with dental floss or another interdental to remove plaque from areas that a toothbrush can't reach.

Add an ADA accepted mouth rinse or other oral hygiene aids to your daily hygiene routine. When choosing dental care products, look for those that display the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance.

Eat a balanced diet for good general health.

Visit your dentist regularly.
