Baking soda isn’t getting my teeth white enough

For the past 3 months I have been brushing my teeth with baking soda and they are still not white. Maybe they look just a little better than when I first started but I was expecting more. Is there something else I can try at home? – Milan

Milan – Baking soda can help remove surface stains from your teeth, but it won’t penetrate your teeth to break down stains beneath the surface.

A dentist needs to examine your teeth to determine the cause of the stains in them. Stains that are embedded in teeth require professional-strength whitening gel that you get from a dentist.

Did you know that depending on the type of stains in your teeth, bleaching gel will make the stains more noticeable? That’s why it’s important to have your teeth examined first. Many dentists work out payment plans with patients to help make whitening their teeth affordable.
