Everything my dentist does hurts. Why why why?

There has got to be a better way. Everything my dentist does hurts. When he numbs my teeth it hurts. He fills a cavity and it hurts. Last Wednesday he was taking impressions of my teeth. That hurt too. He seems rough. I don’t know. I really like the guy but he is causing me more pain that I think he should. What is scary is that I think it just goes over his head. I can say Ouch! all day and he just keeps doing whatever he’s doing. Really? I feel like back peddling away from the office. I don’t know what my question is, but help! – Hayden

Hayden – You need to find a dentist with gentle techniques. If you continue to experience pain each time you have a dental appointment, you may begin to hate going.

You can become nervous and eventually avoid dental appointments altogether. Some dentists focus on having a gentle manner and a gentle touch. They are sensitive to the fear and anxiety that many patients experience, and one way they show it is by ensuring that you feel little to no pain during dental treatment.

Ask friend or relatives for recommendations or do some Internet searching and check patient reviews to find the right dentist for you.
