Is Drake’s Diamond from a Dental Implant?

There’s something making the rounds on Twitter about the rapper Drake’s teeth. He said he has a diamond in the tooth that someone accused him of having dirty. Is that done by dental implant?

Dear Paul,

Drake’s Diamond Tooth

I know the Tweet you’re referring to. In fact, it started because of the picture above. One of the teeth looked like it had a smudge of some sort on it. Of course, the trolls come trolling. Someone, of course, had to throw an insult, because what would the internet be without trying to make others feel stupid. Here’s the tweeted comment.

In case you can’t read the image, I’ll print the text below.

Jaydaddydollars wrote, “Lmao all that money and ur teeth still don’t look clean.”

Drake replied, “I have a pink diamond in my tooth…I brush with activated charcoal before any club night where I will see baddies know datttttttttttt.”

Is the Diamond a Dental Implant?

Drake had a few options for placing the diamond. He would only use a dental implant if he lost a tooth. That is a possibility. Either way, the diamond is either placed in a natural tooth or a dental crown. I would be surprised if he put it in a natural tooth. Dentists, like doctors, want to “do no harm”. Not many dentists want to damage healthy tooth structure. It’s possible a dentist caved and did it. It’s also possible he did it himself.

If it’s the latter, that was a very dangerous thing to do. The best he could expect is he’s created a sanctuary for bacteria. If he did permanent damage, it could result in the loss of his tooth. Then, he really will need a dental implant.

The more likely scenario is he needed a porcelain crown and decided to add some bling. Celebrities do that kind of thing all the time. For instance, check out Lil’ Wayne’s grill.

Don’t Use Drake as a Dental Example

Another thing he mentioned was the fact that he uses activated charcoal on his teeth when he’s going out. I know that is currently quite a popular teeth whitening method on YouTube at the moment. The problem is it’s dangerous. Whenever he brushes the activated charcoal on his teeth, he’s actually removing some of his tooth enamel. That will eventually dull his teeth and cause staining.

If you want to whiten your teeth, the safest way to do it is through your dentist.
