How do I take my fake Lumineers off?

I thought I was getting Lumineers but after having multiple problems with the veneers, the dentist kind of indicated without coming out and saying it that these are not really Lumineers but she wouldn’t or couldn’t tell me what the brand name is. I was absolutely furious. The way they look is so disappointing and they were bonded onto my teeth. I am certain that this is not the way the temporaries looked because I have pictures of me smiling with the temporaries. After and only after I threatened to have my attorney call did the dentist offer me a partial refund but really, what do I do with a partial refund? The only thing that makes me feel maybe a little better is that the dentist did the “Lumineers “ the no prep way so my teeth were not scraped down. I cannot ask her to take the veneers off because I have lost all faith and confidence in this dentist. Nor am I ready to see another dentist and get bamboozled in the process. So will you please tell me, how do I take my fake “Lumineers” off myself? – Opal.

Opal – We are sorry to learn about your unfortunate and unusual experience. Porcelain veneers, whether they are Lumineers or another brand, should only be placed and removed by an experienced cosmetic dentist. Why not attempt to remove your own porcelain veneers?

  • Porcelain veneer placement and removal requires the specialized tools and skills of a cosmetic dentist
  • It is possible to damage tooth enamel, your gums, or teeth if you try to remove the veneers on your own.
  • After your veneers are removed your teeth will need further attention, which may include cleaning and polishing.
  • If there are any issues with removing the veneers, a skilled cosmetic dentist knows how to address them without forcing the veneers off and damaging your teeth.

Find one or two dentists who are experienced with Lumineers to examine your teeth. Ask questions about how your veneers will be removed. They will explain what needs to be done to safely remove the veneers and beautifully restore your smile. When you are comfortable, schedule an appointment to have the veneers removed.
