Although I haven’t confirmed it with my dentist, my guess is that within the next year or 2, I am going to need top and bottom dentures. I struggle with the thought of this even though I know so much of it is due to my neglect and not flossing like I was really told to do. It’s hard to explain why taking care of my teeth has been such an issue for me. My income is limited and it seems a little scary to think how much dentures are going to cost. I’m on Medicare, and I also elected dental insurance but it is very limited. I’m trying to cut corners on other expenses and save money where I can to go towards dentures. It takes current technology, skillful techniques, and a great dental lab to produce dentures that really look natural. Those features cost more. Basic dentures are lower in quality and cost less than cosmetic dentures.

Depending on where you live in the U.S., low-budget dentures can cost a few to several hundred dollars. High-quality, cosmetic dentures with natural-looking gums and teeth can cost well over $1000. Cosmetic dentures also give you more choices for the shade of your denture teeth.

Choosing a Dentist for Your Dentures
Even if you’re on a budget, your choice of dentists matters. Find a dentist who has post-graduate training in cosmetic dentistry. He or she will help you achieve the most natural-looking results.
If you need dentures, and your budget permits, consider securing them with dental implants at some point. You might be familiar with the terms implant overdentures, implant-supported dentures, or snap-on dentures. They prevent jawbone shrinkage and eventual facial sagging.
