Need a Dentist Who Caters to Fearful Patients Now!

Can you help a gal out? I’ve had a dentist for years who understood my fear of dentists. He joked that he always catered to cowards. He did, too! He made my appointments bearable and sometimes even fun. I moved to a neighboring state, but the last two dentists I tried were complete disasters. I had a filling which was loose. I didn’t want to go back to one of the “mean” dentists, so kind of tried to ignore it. I do realize it was stupid, but it’s done. Now, I’ve got the problem of it falling out. What do I do? Please, tell me how to find a dentist who caters to patients like me.

Dear Candace,

Person hiding behind a chair with fearful eyes peeking out.
There are dentists who cater to cowards.

First, let’s deal with this filling. It may take you a couple of days to find the right dentist, so I’d like you to go to a drug store and buy some dental filling material. This won’t be the exact stuff your dentist uses, but it’s useful for a temporary filling and will buy you a couple of days.

Finding a Cater to Cowards Dentist

Next, we need to find you a dentist who will make you feel comfortable in the dental chair. Like your former dentist, there are dentists who are good working with people who have dental anxiety. And, believe me, you’re not alone in your fear.

Most of these type of dentists will advertise using one of three typical phrases:

Do make sure you check their reviews though. You want a dentist who lives up to the expectations which he promotes about himself. He can say he’s a gentle dentist, but maybe his reviews say he’s a terror.

Be Careful Not to Put this Off

I know it’s tempting to ignore this but it will lead to bigger problems. There’s a reason this filling fell out. Likely, there was a cavity developing underneath. Without treatment, this will turn into an infection. Then you’re looking at a root canal treatment.
