How much pain to get teeth surgically removed? Can the dentist sedate me?

I know that removing teeth is a simple thing but I need to get 3 primary teeth surgically removed. The adult ones never came in. I want dental implants to replace them. I know that removing them is no big deal but I have a huge problem with going to the dentist and having anything done in my mouth. It makes me very nervous and I tend to gag. How much pain will there be with removing the teeth and can the dentist sedate me, or is this considered too simple for sedation? Mark

Mark – Before your teeth are removed, they and the area around them will be completely numbed. In advance of the numbing injection, a topical anesthetic will be applied to your gums to prevent you from even feeling the injection. But if you are nervous, sedation dentistry can help relax you.

Sedation dentistry is not only for patients with complex or potentially very painful procedures, it is also for the anxious patient. Explain your anxiety to your dentist, or to the dentist of your choice who offers sedation dentistry. He or she will give you a mild, commonly-prescribed medication to relieve your anxiety. Your extractions will be pain-free, and you will have a good dental experience.

Sedation dentistry helps anxious and nervous patients maintain good oral health. If you take advantage of this treatment, it can help you too.
