Pain two weeks after tooth extraction

I had an upper left molar pulled 2 ½ weeks ago. Its tooth that had a root canal two years ago, but it couldn’t be saved after it cracked. The pain in the spot where the tooth was is throbbing. – Cliff H.

Cliff – Throbbing pain after a tooth extraction is not unusual, but it should resolve within a week. If it’s been two and a half weeks since the extraction, something is wrong.

There could be an infection in your tooth, which can be treated with antibiotics. Your dentist needs to examine your tooth to determine the cause of your pain. Make an appointment promptly.
