I just got my retainers after having braces and i was just wondering if you could answer some questions for me?
1. Can I drink hot drinks with the retainers in?
2. Is it normal for my mouth to be sore with retainers?
3. Will the pain go?
4. Is it normal to feel a lot of pain when removing and putting on the retainers for the first few days?

Drinking hot liquids is allowed with retainers however it depends on the type of retainer you have. If it’s a clear plastic retainer the answer is no because hot drinks can distort the plastic aligners, however if your retainer has metal wiring you should be fine. Your mouth may be sore for a short time with your retainers. Remember you just got your braces off and your teeth may still be a little mobile and are settling into place with your retainers, but the pain will go away. In the beginning it can be uncomfortable removing and putting on your retainers however will become more comfortable as time goes on. Ask your orthodontist for more advice who will be able to better address your concerns.
