why do i have to wait to secure my dentures with implants?

i am only 57 yrs old but i need complete dentures. i am so concerned about the way they will look. i really want to hold them down with implants but my dentist is talking me out of it saying that i should wait a few months to see how the dentures feel first. now i am concerned about how the dentures will feel. why is that affecting whether or not i want implants? doesn’t make sense to me. please explain. thanks Robert

Robert – We don’t understand why your dentist would tell you to wait to see how your dentures feel before you receive dental implants to secure them.

Your decision to stabilize your dentures is an excellent choice. We recommend that you ask for dentist for details on his or her explanation for waiting to secure your dentures. You may also be interested in why there is a concern for the way your dentures will fit.

We also suggest that you receive a second opinion from an experienced implant dentist on stabilizing your dentures with dental implants. There are many advantages to stabilizing your dentures with implants. They will fit and feel better, and they will help prevent jawbone shrinkage.

If you receive a second opinion, you will have a better understanding of your options and a a better idea of whom  you should select to provide you with implant-supported dentures.
