Should I Get Lumineers?

My uncle offered to buy me a smile makeover for graduation. I’m very excited. My parents could never afford anything like that. I want to make sure I get the right thing. I keep seeing advertisements for Lumineers. Should that be what I get or Porcelain Veneers?

Dear Avery,

Lumineers advertisement

First, congratulations on your graduation! This is an exciting time for you. It’s great you have such a generous uncle. I bet your parents appreciate that too. You’re wise to do some research ahead of time. You should be aware that Lumineers are simply a brand of porcelain veneers. They’re a highly marketed brand, so more people know about them.

What you’ll want to focus your research on is which dentist places them, more than which brand. The reason for that is each brand has its own strengths. Your dentist will know which brand is best for the type of smile design you want.

Another reason to check out the dentist is that the differences in artistry and skill levels of each dentist. Think of it like an artist who paints. Every artist has a different style and eye. You want a dentist who produces the type of results you love.

Finding the Right Dentist to do Your Smile Makeover

You’ll want first check their smile gallery to see if you like the type of results they get with the work they do. You may want to call first and check to see that the images they have on their smile gallery are actual patients of their’s and not just stock photos they put up to draw people in.

Once you find a list of dentists with good smile galleries, make sure you check their reviews. Both Yelp! and Google Reviews are great resources. The reason to do that is to get an idea of whether or not the dentist is pleasant to work with and their patients have been happy with what they went home with.

Your final step will be to make sure they’re willing to stand behind their work. Look on their website to see if they have a beautiful smile guarantee.

Best of Luck and enjoy your new smile.
