Top denture only. Will dental implants be cheaper if I have no bottom teeth?

I have a top denture only. I have been missing all of my bottom teeth for over 8 yrs. Since no bottom teeth need to be pulled will it be cheaper if I get implants? I am retired military and don’t have a lot of money. I just want to be able to eat and enjoy my food for the first time in a long time. John S.

John – The cost of dental implants is determined by several factors, including:

  • where you live in the country
  • the implant dentist who is performing the work
  • the number of implants you need
  • whether bone grafting is required

Other fees are associated with dental implant placement, including diagnostic studies to ensure proper placement and dental crowns to secure to the implants.

A more affordable way to restore your teeth is with implant-supported dentures. They are a fraction of the cost of individual implants for your lower arch. Dentures will be made with metal O-rings on the bottom that snap onto dental implants. You can receive as few as two dental implants, but the more implants you have, the more secure your dentures will be. You can choose mini implants or standard implants. Mini implants are the most affordable option, although they are not as stable as standard implants.

The implants will not only stabilize your dentures, they will help prevent further jawbone shrinkage, which eventually makes it difficult, if not impossible to wear a denture.

Cosmetic dentures will provide you with natural-looking denture teeth. They will be customized to fit your facial features and preferences to enhance your smile. Cosmetic dentures that are secured to dental implants will give you a smile makeover and improve your lifestyle, because you can speak, eat, and laugh with confidence.
