Whiten my teeth at home without buying whitening strips?

Hi. I don’t have money to buy whitening strips or to get my teeth whitened at the dentist’s office. Will you please tell me what I can do at home to make my teeth whiter? Will peroxide help? Thanks. Daniel

Daniel – Start by limiting your intake of sugary or acidic food. The acid from sweets and soda can stain your teeth.

Whitening toothpaste can help remove the surface stains from your teeth. Swishing a little peroxide in your mouth may help get your teeth only a little whiter. A form of peroxide is often the whitening agent in professional gel, but over-the-counter peroxide is not nearly as effective. Be certain not to swallow the peroxide. You can use the peroxide daily for a week or two. If you experience any irritation, stop using it. After a week or two, you can use swish with peroxide once a week.

When you receive whitening gel from a dentist, the peroxide gel is professional strength and it stays in contact with your teeth your teeth. The results from swishing your mouth with peroxide will be very limited.
