Luster Premium Teeth Whitening Review

I keep seeing these ads for Luster Premium White At Home Tooth Whitening Light System on my Facebook feed. I swear, you just look up one thing online and Facebook sends you 300 ads for similar products. While I’d love my privacy back, I am also curious about this one. Do you know anything about this product? Is it safe? Does it work?

Dear Lori,

Teeth whitening trays

I’ve reviewed teeth whitening products and have found several that would work, even though they are less effective than the professional options. This one, unfortunately, appears to be a complete scam.

Let’s start with the light that comes with the kit. There is nothing in this light strong enough to make the least bit of difference in the whitening. That tells me they are just putting it there for purely psychological reasons. They are already off on a bad foot with me. I don’t like manipulation.

As for the “whitening” ingredient, it is more a pigment than a true whitening gel the way you would get with your dentist. Essentially, they are temporarily coloring your teeth with zinc oxide. It will remain white short term. Any good reviews they received probably came during this period. It won’t take long for the whitening pigment to wear off, though.

If you strictly want something over the counter, Crest Whitestrips do work. They are significantly weaker than what you’d get with a dentist so you’ll have to buy a LOT of kits to get the same level of whiteness, but they will work.

The fastest and safest way to whiten your teeth is through a dentist using professional strength teeth whitening.

You can even get your teeth completely whitened in just one appointment with Zoom Whitening.
