I’ve been doing some over the counter teeth whitening for several months and do not feel like my teeth are getting any whiter. When I first told my dentist I wanted super white teeth, he said that I should consider Lumineers. However, once I heard the price I gave that idea up quite quickly. Is there some secret to getting really white teeth?

The best way to get your teeth super white is with take home teeth whitening. I know you’ve been doing that, but the over-the-counter whitening is not nearly as strong as what you can get from your dentist. You will start to see results much more quickly than with the kit you have been using.
Another option is Zoom Whitening. This will get your teeth significantly whiter in just one appointment. However, it is more expensive than tray whitening. With persistance, you can get even whiter results with the trays. It is just a matter of how long you wear the trays.
The Lumineers your dentist suggested is overkill if all you are trying to do is whiten your teeth. This is typically used for complete smile makeovers. Whereas your dentist can charge thousands of dollars for Lumineers, he will only get a few hundred with teeth whitening.
His suggesting a more expensive procedure unnecessarily makes me wonder if you are with the best dentist for meeting your needs.
The last thing any patient needs in this economy is a dentist that is always trying to upsell them. If your dentist does not offer teeth whitening, it is a simple enough matter to find a dentist who does. Unlike other cosmetic procedures, the dentist would not need any special cosmetic training or skill. It’s a simple procedure which can be done by just about anyone.
You’ll just want to make certain you have your cleaning done first. This is important because without that you will end up with splotchy results.
