Wisdom teeth hurt bad. Will a dentist have to pull them?

My wisdom teeth are coming in and they hurt really bad. Will they need to be pulled? How bad does it hurt when they are pulled? – Xavier

Xavier – Your wisdom teeth may be impacted, preventing them from fully erupting.  An impacted wisdom tooth can cause damage to adjacent teeth. The wisdom teeth may cause neighboring teeth to shift or become infected. If wisdom teeth are very painful, or if they are not correctly positioned, they need to be removed.

Since your wisdom teeth are causing a lot of pain, you should have them examined by a dentist. Your dentist will let you know if the wisdom teeth need to be extracted. If they need to be extracted, the area will be numbed so that you won’t feel the pain. If necessary, you can be sedated to help you relax and to minimize the pain.

If you’re concerned about cost, or if you don’t have insurance, you can find a dentist who will make the treatment affordable for you.
